Facilities

Throw Zone

The throw zone was created January 2010.  It includes two full size throwing cages and two shot put circles.  The first cage is specifically designed for hammer throwing while the second cage caters to both hammer and discus throwing and contains fixing points for use with seated throws.  The zone also has a team shelter which is wheelchair accessible and close by storage for throwing equipment.

Video Analysis

Within the throws zone is also a new improvement under way which will include a scaffold tower for the use of video analysis during throwing to allow coaches and athletes to record video footage from an aerial point of view.

Gym

At Perivale Park and available for use by members of the Hammer School is a fully accessible gym equipped with both weight machines and free lifting weights.  It contains 2 x exercise bikes and 2 x rowing machines.  There is also a large amount of strength and conditioning equipment such as medicine balls, exercise swiss balls and boso boards.

Outdoor Gym Circuit

Next to the gym facilities is located the outdoor gym circuit.  There are a number of permanently fixed exercise facilities including horizontal ladder, sit up platforms, step up benches, chin up bars, clean and jerk logs, and parallel and uneven bars for tricep dips.  All these are within an enclosed safety fenced environment which is situated on a cushioned rubber track surface.

Equipment

The Hammer School has a good basis of hammer throwing equipment which is available to its members.  This equipment is well maintained and regularly updated as required.

There is also other equipment for training such as D-balls, puds, power sledges, and heavy and light hammers.

Pavilion

Perivale Park has an excellent pavilion featuring a reception area, social area, adult and junior changing room facilities including shower facilities, lockers available for use (free of charge but requires £1 coin to operate which is returned at end of use), and kitchen facilities.

The pavilion can be used as a meeting place, space for teaching, video analysis and social get together area before and after training.

Spectator Stand

A new 300 seat capacity covered spectator stand was installed in 2009 allowing spectators an excellent view of the track and events as they occur.

The stand includes 12 wheelchair accessible bays also.
